My name is Rhys Angwin 33years old and a relatively new parent at Manning PS. My little girl Harper is in P.P, which she loves and son Jett attending in a couple years’ time, so we very much look forward to being in and around the school for many years to come. Having been in the area for a number of years now (Opposite the Mt Henry), and being on a very fun & family friendly street with families who are all at Manning PS makes it extra special. My business Angwin Plumbing & Renovations has been operating for 10+years now with a lot of work coming from parents of Manning school, so have gotten to know a lot of great people over the years, well before even starting at the school. Having signed up for the Rippers & already regulars for a beer and bowl at the bowling club, whilst looking forward to being involved with that as the kids grow.
If elected I look forward to being involved with the school & helping to bring in new fresh ideas & perspectives to the board but also the community in general. I cannot wait to see the growth and continual change for this fantastic school and area & very much would like to be a part of it first-hand.
I have been actively involved at Manning Primary School since 2016, when my eldest child started Kindergarten. I now have three children at the school in Pre-Primary, Year 2 and Year 5. Right from the start, I have been very impressed with the quality of education and the community spirit at Manning Primary School. And so, I would love the opportunity to give back to our school by serving on the board. I have over a decade of experience as a board member for other Perth organisations. I was also a member of an executive committee for four years. My education and professional background centre on communication. I am employed as a learning and development specialist – training professionals to communicate in a variety of situations including presentations, meetings and difficult conversations. As a board member I would use my skills and experience to: 1. help Manning Primary School achieve its strategic goals 2. be an advocate for our school community: representing the views and best interests of the students and parents of Manning Primary School.
I feel very lucky to have been part of the Manning PS community for over 6 years, with two boys currently in Years 1 and 4. Our family actively supports the P&C and Mann Club, and loves participating in and volunteering for a range of school activities both inside and outside the classroom. I’d now welcome the opportunity to deepen this involvement as part of the governance team. I have broad ranging legal and commercial experience in private practice, as well as in-house roles within the higher education and clean energy sectors. Through these I strive to deliver practical outcomes based on stakeholder engagement and a strategic, risk-appropriate approach. I also hold voluntary positions on a student equity scholarships panel, and a charitable grants committee. As a board member I’d hope to leverage this experience to help advance the school’s renewed focus on ‘serving one another’ under our new school business plan.

With two children at Manning Primary School, I am keen to help develop and promote the school as in integral part of the broader Manning community. While I am a member of the P&C and Mann Club (the Manning Primary chapter of the Fathering project), I look forward to the opportunity of contributing to the Board. With over 25 years of experience in the IT industry, both in consulting and at Western Power, I have broad understanding of business processes. My Bachelor of Business degree (Information Processing) has provided me with a foundation of business acumen that I have used extensively in the delivery of large IT and analytic solutions. I believe that this experience in IT, analytics and strategic systems thinking will be a useful skill to assist the Board with future planning for the Manning Primary School. Other interests include bike riding (with many other Manning dads), volleyball and learning more about the application of artificial intelligence to solve real world problems.
I have three children attending Manning Primary School and one future student in training. My husband and I have been home owners in the area since 2010. I’m delighted to serve on the School Board, working to support the strategic direction of Manning Primary School for many years to come. Professionally, I have worked as a human resources practitioner in various corporate, operational and leadership roles. I hold a Bachelor of Commerce (Human Resource Management & Industrial Relations) and a Postgraduate Diploma of Commerce (Commercial Law). I am passionate about education, developing positive values and behaviours in children and look forward to using my skills for the benefit of the school community.
I am a mum of two children, Reuben currently in pre-primary and Serena who is enrolled in kindy for 2021. Since my son started at Manning Primary two years ago, I have been very impressed by the talented and dedicated teaching staff and the supportive and inclusive community of parents and students. I have enjoyed being parent helper in my son’s class, watching him and his peers learn and grow in a positive and encouraging environment.
I would be grateful for the opportunity to serve on the School Board to contribute to the strategic direction of Manning Primary and give back to the school that provides so much to my family. As a Board member I would act with integrity and enthusiasm and work collaboratively to achieve the best outcomes for students and their families. Professionally, I have worked for the WA Department of Health for over ten years in various policy, project management and health service planning roles. I have highly developed skills in strategic planning and execution, project and contract management, stakeholder consultation, research and evaluation and interpersonal communication. My formal qualifications include a Bachelor of Science (Honours) and a Master of Public Health.
My involvement with Manning Primary School started in 2016 when my son Oliver first attended kindy. I’ve lived in Manning for 8 years and grew up in Como, so I know and love the area and support its continued growth and evolution. I have been actively involved in the school’s P&C and helped secure more than $20K in 12 months via community-based fundraising events. In 2018, I worked closely with the Board to deliver the purpose-built outdoor classroom in partnership with local community groups. Professionally, I am a marketing communications manager, hold a Bachelor of Arts (PR & Marketing) and have 20+ years’ experience in private, public and not-for profit roles. As part of my role on the Board I also actively participate on the school’s marketing sub-committee helping to guide the school’s branding and community awareness programs.
As the proud dad of two young Manning Primary boys, and an experienced educational leader I hope to bring a broad range of skills and experiences to this role; which I have linked to the school’s strategic priorities below.I have worked in the education sector since 2003, and currently work as the Director of Teacher Professional Growth at a Catholic school in Perth. This is a K -12 role and I support the growth and professional learning of all teaching staff and support exemplary teaching and leadership. Prior to this I held a number of senior leadership positions in London based colleges and was an appointed Officer on the Curriculum, Quality and Students Committee, and gained board level experience. I have experience as a coach and pastoral leader where my role was to improve staff and student wellbeing. Having relocated to Perth from the UK two years ago, I feel lucky to be part of such a strong school community and member of the Mann Club and ‘Manning Knight Riders’ (cycling group). I am excited by this opportunity to support the innovative and creative learning at Manning Primary.
